Eric Hughes (solo/acoustic)

Alte Ziegelei am Wiehen, Mindener Str. 69, Hullhorst, Germany

Beale Street blues entertainer Eric “Scrappie” Hughes will celebrate the release of a new acoustic/solo album by touring Germany and The Netherlands, spending the first two weeks in November of 2019 performing at select clubs, coffee houses , and galleries.
Eric’s down-home, acoustic solo show will take brand-new audiences on a journey to Memphis, featuring the songs and stories of his hometown.
“Echo Hills” is a collection of traditional tunes as well as original songs, recorded during Hughes’ 2018 visit to Germany. These sixteen songs feature vocal and acoustic guitar- with no amplifiers or electronics, recorded live in single-takes with no overdubs or backing tracks.
German blues label Blind Lemon Records and producer Thomas Schleiken teamed up with recording engineer and co-producer Andree Klosse to capture Eric Hughes’ music at Hornwerk Tonstudio in Bookholzberg. In addition to the most modern recording equipment, Hornwerk also used some highly-specialized vintage recording equipment, which gives “Echo Hills” an incredibly accurate “clean” sound, while also maintaining a rich, warm vintage feel. This approach fit perfectly into the authentic, rootsy vibe that Hughes has become known for.
